City Soccer in the Community: Our Goal
The UAE Embassy in Washington, DC and Manchester City Football Club have teamed up to provide deserving kids access to quality soccer fields in US communities, along with Manchester City’s award winning and complimentary coaching and education programs. Since the Summer of 2010, fields have been built in the Spanish Harlem neighborhood of New York City and East Los Angeles, and kids in both communities are being taught to play the world’s most popular game. More than providing a place to learn the game of soccer, these fields are creating new opportunities for children in communities that have the most needs. In March 2012, we opened a third field in Miami but that was not all. Soon after, Chicago and in 2013, Washington D.C. has been announced with the opening projected for the Fall.
Manchester City is owned by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan – a member of the Abu Dhabi royal family. Both the Embassy and Manchester City hold a shared commitment to help provide kids with access to the sport of soccer regardless of where they may live.
