Manchester City Football Club
Manchester City was Founded in 1880 by the by family of Arthur Connell the rector St.Marks Church, who believed that football (Soccer) can create opportunities and sense of community. Some 132 years later this philosophy is still at the heart, and ingrained in the DNA, of the Club . Its City in the community program now works with over 200,000 kids in communities throughout Manchester and in the past 2 years has expanded this outreach to both the United States and the United Arab Emirates. Through its newly formed USA non for profit "City Soccer in the Community" it works with 20 schools and programs in New York City and in 2010 partnered with the Embassy of the UAE to build much needed soccer fields in New York, Los Angeles and soon to be Miami.
The Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Washington DC
The UAE is a source of stability , tolerance , innovation, and growth in the Arabian Gulf and around the the globe. The United States and the UAE are reliable allies, with historical and present-day shared security and economic interests. In fact , the UAE is the largest export market for US goods in the Middle East and more US Naval vessels visit UAE ports than any other port outside the United States. The United States and the UAE also enjoy growing social and cultural ties, and many US institutions in education, healthcare and the arts have formed collaborative partnerships with UAE entities.
City Soccer is proud to have partnered with the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Washington DC to provide soccer fields for inner-city kids in major cities throughout the USA. Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba is a big soccer fan, having played the game since a child, and is committed to expressing his country's support of the USA through the sport he loves.
The joy these fields bring to kids cannot be measured.
Fields have already been built in Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Chicago and Washington DC.
City Soccer in the Community (CSITC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing opportunities for inner-city kids in the USA to play soccer.
